We have tried many different baby monitors and this is by far the best. We live on a farm and this has the longest range, and by far the longest battery life of any baby monitor digital or analog. We can be more than 100 yards from the house and still get perfect reception. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The written specs on this product as far as range are not as good as the graco digital monitor, but the difference is the Phillips literature is conservative and the Graco literature is bordering on false advertising as far as effective range. We also own the Graco 2.4 GHZ digital monitor and it has no where near the range of the Phillips monitor. If you're not taking the monitor outside the house and you live in a small house, the Graco is fine. But if you are planning on taking the monitor outside spend the extra money and get the Phillips, it's worth it.

I bought this item because of its long range. I suffered the price tag so that I can work at the end of my yard while my daughter was napping. The range on this product is as long if not longer than it claims but if there is something blocking its range the monitor is rendered useless. In addition to this the volume is not loud enough. If there is other noise while listening to the monitor you can barely hear your child which is important if you child gets as sick as mine. The battery life is not long enough and the price is way too high. Do your self a favor and go with the Sony Baby call it is worth it. Best Reguards

I purchased this item when my husband was diagnosed with dementia and a host of other medical issues. He slept a lot and needed 24/7 care. He was constantly confused as to were I was. I couldn't even go outside to tend my flowers, until I purchased this product. I took a monitor with me everywhere, mowing, tending flowers, even swimming in the back yard. I always knew when he needed me, all he had to do was say my name. He had cancer of the larynx and could hardly be heard if you were sitting right beside him. But I heard him every time no matter where I was. I used the second monitor upstairs to alert me at night. This product gave me the freedom to continue to live and sleep as I cared for him.

This product was very disappointing. With they hype, high cost and coming from a company I trust, I expected better from this unit... It has very poor sensitivity, the rechargable batteries on the parent units die far to quickly, you can barely hear any events on the monitor and there is no audible alarm (or at least if there is one, it didn't function for me). I installed a camera with microphone onto my phone intercom system and am MUCH happier now!

Excellent baby monitor, but still needs more work Jun 02, 2008
This is overall a great unit. It replaced my Fisher Price monitors and First Year Monitors. Its a terrific unit, with these highlights:
- Terrific sound quality and range. Definitely the pick of the litter and replaces all other units.
- I love the feature of sound sensitivity. Our last unit would pick up ever little sound. This one just picks up the sound when our daughter gets really upset and cries.
- Accessories. More flexibility for you if you want belt clips or lanyards to carry these.
These are the caveats that Philips stills needs to improve.
- Build quality of the plastic seems low. It actually feels like the same as my Apple Mighty Mouse, but I guess the mouse weighs more so it feels of higher quarability.
- Batteries. If you follow the instructions on first charging the units, you have no problems. I have read other comments about them and made sure to fully charge and discharge my units 4 times before even thinking about taking them offline. I havent had any trouble since then.
- Can you add more Parentel units than just the two? Philips' website and documentation isn't very clear on this. I think you can, but I can't purchase a Parental unit seperately. Please Philips give us the option as I want a unit in a few more rooms!
Overall, highly recommended product and is worth the extra money though.
